About Us
The name Petch has been at the forefront of New Zealand motor sport for more than 30 years. Mark Petch won his first New Zealand National Championship, at the wheel of a Nissan Datsun 1200 SS, in 1972.In 1984 Mark Petch Motorsport was formed, just prior to the inaugural Wellington Street race. History records that that the team went on to win that event as well as two Australian Touring Car Championships. Turning its attention to the arrival of the SCCA inspired New Zealand TraNZam Championship; MPM began an unparallel era of category domination, right up until the demise of the category in 2001.In 2002 the team turned to the emerging NZV8 Touring Car Series, going on to convincingly win the 2002 New Zealand V8 Championship. MPM withdrew from further New Zealand competition, Following the tragic death of its then star driver Ashley Stichbury, until returning in 2005 with their former multiple TraNZam champion Kayne Scott. MPM went on to win three NZV8s Championship before finally closing its doors in 2009.In 2010, Chris Petch a former NZ kart racer, and his father Mark, joined forces to purchase Autoquip Marketing, New Zealands oldest racer supply company, from its founder Dennis Marwood. Together, the Petch's have repositioned the Company to take advantage of the acquisition of Sabelt, by Brembo, and the subsequent creation of the Brembo Performance Group. Autoquip Marketing is proud to have been appointed Brembo performance groups exclusive New Zealand distributor for Brembo Performance, including motorcycle brake systems and Marchesini wheels.Autoquip, also distributes KW Suspension Systems, Rimstock alloy road wheels, Team Dynamic racing wheels, Sportline steering wheels, and Boss kits, plus a host of other more minor products, such as bonnet pins, switchs, high quality race tape etc.
